By grazing vegetation and dispersing seeds, Bennett’s wallaby helps renew Australian landscapes and maintain biodiversity.
Threats and conservation
Bennett’s wallaby is threatened by road collisions, habitat destruction and introduced predators. To protect it, the forests, scrubland and natural grasslands where it lives are being preserved. Studies and monitoring help to better understand the species, and informing the public helps to protect it.
Fun fact
It can give birth to one young while another is still in its pouch! The female can run several reproductive stages at the same time.
